And the Rest is History!

Who We Are

The Sharon Historical Society was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2013. A dedicated group of local history aficionados banded together to promote and preserve our history while educating the public.

Our Mission as the Sharon Historical Society is to:

Promote

We believe that citizens and visitors of our beautiful city should have access to the cultural and historical significance of Sharon, Pennsylvania, and the city’s role locally, regionally, and nationally. We advocate for the city’s history and its preservation as a catalyst for revitalization and tourism efforts.

Preserve

We encourage anyone to donate photographs, documents, artifacts, and stories as it enhances the overall context of Sharon, Pennsylvania in our region and country’s history. We also work to ensure the preservation of the city’s historic building inventory of commercial, industrial, ecclesiastical, and residential structures that represent architectural styles from the 1850s through modern times.

Educate

We share the history of our city with students, visitors, groups, and others through our eyewitness accounts and in-depth research showcased in our events, lectures, and famous History Walks. Often these educational efforts are free because it is our goal that anyone interested in local history have the opportunity to explore it.

What and How Can I Donate?

The Sharon Historical Society accepts a variety of artifact donations such as ephemera, old advertising, letterhead, publications, company records, industrial items, regionally- or locally-connected artifacts, and more!
