1913: The Angry Shenango and The Flood of the Century

  • Sharon Municipal Building, City Council Chambers 155 West Connelly Boulevard Sharon, PA, 16146 United States (map)

Join the Sharon Historical Society as we revisit a near-annual event, floods. In this expanded version of a 2013 lecture, Society Director John Zavinski will discuss Sharon’s most disastrous flood, the Great Flood of 1913, with photos of it and additional details of some of the major floods in subsequent decades, particularly the 1950s.

The hour-long program coincides with the release of the Society’s deluxe reprint of “The Official History of the Shenango Valley Flood,” which will be available for purchase at the event -- saving the cost of shipping -- along with our other Society publications and reprints. This lecture is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The event will be at the Sharon Municipal Building, City Council Chambers, 155 West Connelly Blvd. Sharon, PA 16146 on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 6:30 pm.
