Chuck Tanner and the Pittsburgh Pirates: Baseball History & Cocktails Lecture Ticket
This “digital ticket” will be your admission to the “Chuck Tanner and the Pittsburgh Pirates: Baseball History & Cocktails” lecture event on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 6:00 pm. Author Dale Richard Perelman explores the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates and New Castle native Chuck Tanner. After eight seasons of an up-and-down career as an outfielder, Tanner transitioned to managing the Chicago White Sox and then the Oakland Athletics. But it was his stint as the manager of his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, that would elevate him to an icon of the game. From 1977 to 1985, Tanner crafted a gritty, talented, Pirate brand of baseball alongside legendary players like Willie Stargell and Dave Parker. In 1979, with the Sister Sledge hit “We Are Family” as their theme song and a raucous Western Pennsylvania fan base behind them, Tanner’s Pirates captured a World Series title. Through extensive research and interviews, author Dale Richard Perelman will present the life and times of baseball’s Mr. Sunshine, Chuck Tanner.
