Set of 10 Notecards (2 different views - 5 of each, 9 x 6” unfolded (4.5 x 6” folded)) with Envelopes (4.75 x 6.5”)

Two views, “Millionaire’s Row, South Irvine Avenue” and “East State Street Looking Eastward from Shenango Avenue,” show the interesting architecture and history of Sharon, Pennsylvania.

“Millionaire’s Row, South Irvine Avenue” shows the grand homes and mansions designed by E. E. Clepper circa 1920s. The residences were designed in the Colonial Revival, Classical Revival, and American Foursquare styles. Sitting along the “gateway” into the city, high above the street below to avoid the noisy streetcar line and bustling traffic while providing views of the downtown, they were a showcase of the wealth and prosperity of Sharon during its heyday.

“East State Street Looking Eastward from Shenango Avenue” shows East State Street from the corner of Shenango Avenue looking East. The view shows downtown business buildings and a variety of transportation forms: horse and carriage, automobile, and electric trolley (or streetcar). Shoppers are bustling in Victorian-era garb.

The images are vivid in color and impeccably detailed. Printed on thick, cream card stock, with matching envelopes, the notecards are blank on the inside for the sender to write any message. The back has a description of the front image and the address of the Sharon Historical Society.
